Want to be on next year’s committee? iCUE AGM coming soon!

Hi Everyone,

As semester 2 is coming to an end, it is time for the iCUE and Edinburgh Apprentice committees to handover to a new committee!

Being a part of the committee is an amazing way to develop business skills, boost your CV and get in contact with some really great industry professionals. There are no prerequisites, and the roles are open to those of all years of any course. We highly encourage everyone to give it a shot!

When? 6:30pm-8:00pm, Wednesday 12th March 2014

Descriptions and responsibilities of all roles available are set out in the file attached (link below the post).

If you have any questions about specific roles, feel free to get into contact with the person currently holding the position (all names and emails here) or lucy@icue.co.uk for general enquiries.

To apply for a role, please express your interest to lucy@icue.co.uk and prepare a short 2-3 minute speech as to why you think you would be good for the part. We will see you on the 12th of March, where you will be expected to deliver your speech.

The Edinburgh Apprentice 2014

The Edinburgh Apprentice Applications are now closed, however the competition will be running again next year in February 2015.

The Edinburgh Apprentice is a student competition similar to the TV Programme “The Apprentice”. Open to students from all four Universities! £1000 cash prize for first place. No previous experience or business idea required.

After iCUE and SIE movie night!

  

Thanks so much to everyone who came to the Movie Night last night! Congratulations to Wendy and her team who were joint pub-quiz winners with Simon, Michelle and Matthew. We also had some great entries into our competition on how you would invest £1million – ideas ranged from paintball go-karts and taking over the world (thank you to Pinkie and the Brain for that entry) to investing in high growth companies and safety systems for cities. Well done to everyone who entered, get in touch with SIE if you want to take your idea forward!

We are pleased to announce that the winner of the £20 voucher for Bonsai is Flora Bannerman, for her idea to invest £1million to start up a chain of cocktails and cupcakes bars called ‘Cuptails’. We thought this idea was fun, creative and original, well done Flora!

And great thanks from iCUE to Scottish Institute for Enterprise for a massive support in organising this event!

Week 9 – Movie night with SIE and case study session sign ups!

As deadlines are approaching and everyone is gradually getting sick and tired of studying, we have a bit more relaxed plan for you this week! Mortimer and Randolph Duke are commodity brokers who enjoy a little wager now and then. For the latest bet, Randolph believes they can take a common criminal and make him a successful businessman in the company. The criminal, Billy Ray, is to be given the job and home of Louis, who in turn is set up for crimes he didn’t commit, to see if he resorts to crime once he’s lost his rich environment and friends.

Then you will get opportunity to speak to them and ask them any questions. There will be representatives from EY, RBS, ICAS, Launch.ED, TeachFirst and Choose-a-Challenge charity attending.
